Will a shag make my hair look thicker?

A person seen from behind with a choppy, layered shag haircut in copper-brown against a warm amber background.

The answer

It can create the appearance of body through lift at the crown and textured ends, but a haircut cannot change how much hair grows, so expectations should be realistic. Fine hair looks fullest when the ends stay reasonably dense and the layers are not too short. Ask your stylist to describe how the cut will look when you style it yourself.
