Layers
Layers are sections of hair cut to different lengths so the hair does not fall at one uniform length. In a shag they are shorter and more visible than in a standard layered cut, creating volume at the crown and movement through the lengths. Too many can make fine hair look stringy, while too few can leave thick hair heavy, so placement matters. See also: Face-framing layers, Texturising, Crown, and the guide What Is a Shag Haircut?
