Nape
The nape is the back of the neck at the base of the hairline. Its length and tapering affect how a shag sits, and a short shag often has a tapered nape that looks clean but shows growth quickly. Cowlicks or growth patterns at the nape are more visible in shorter versions. When growing a shag out, the nape often needs occasional tidying to keep the shape neat.
