Density
Density is how many hairs grow from the scalp. It is separate from strand thickness, which is how wide each hair is, and it influences how full a cut can look. You can have fine strands in high density or coarse strands in low density. A shag is tailored to both: fine or low-density hair keeps fuller ends, while thick, dense hair needs weight removal. A haircut changes how full hair looks but not how much grows. See also: Texture, Thinning shears, and the guide Shag Haircuts for Fine and Thick Hair: Density Matters.
