Face-framing layers

Face-framing layers are layers cut around the face, usually starting near the cheekbones or chin, that soften the front of the cut and draw attention to your features. They matter because where they start changes the effect: below the cheekbones keeps volume away from the widest part of a round face, while fuller layers at the jaw balance a narrower chin. They can be worn without a fringe. See also: Curtain bangs, Layers, and the guide Shag Haircut by Face Shape: Oval, Round, Square, Heart and Long.
