Slicing
Slicing is cutting into sections with the blades of the scissors to remove weight and create texture, often used to make layers blend. It matters because it softens the lines between layers so they do not look like steps. It is a texturising method, alongside point cutting and razor work. A stylist might slice the inside of thick hair to reduce bulk, whereas fine hair needs a very light touch to avoid looking thin.
