Texturising
Texturising is any technique used to add movement and separation to hair, including point cutting, slicing and razor work. It matters because it gives a shag its piecey, lived-in finish and stops layers looking like steps. The amount must suit the hair: thick hair benefits from weight removal, but removing too much from fine or curly hair can look thin or frizzy. Your stylist should adjust it across different areas of the head. See also: Point cutting, Slicing, Thinning shears, and the guide What Is a Shag Haircut?
